ORIGINS

The Blue Water Area Fallen Heroes Banner Program was brought forward by Ed Weichsler, Project manager and U.S. Air Force Veteran and an elite student leadership class project from Croswell – Lexington High School as a way to honor the commities' military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to their country and promote civic pride.

St. Clair County has over 630 service members who died for their country from World War I to the current date. The community banners will feature the fallen hero’s photograph, name, rank, branch of service, war conflict (if any), age, and community where they resided.

These beautiful, patriotic banners will be displayed three weeks prior to and including Memorial Day each year. They will not be used for any other public display, promotion, or fundraiser.

Banner Program Guidelines

Banners commemorate those St Clair County citizens who died while serving in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces or Allied Forces from World War I to the current date, or who died of wounds after discharge.

Service member must have been a former student within a school district located in St. Clair County., a prior resident or property owner, or a native of cities, villages, or townships within St. Clair County.

Family and extended family are encouraged to provide an original photograph or one in good condition of the service member that best represents who that person was. The person does not need to be wearing a military uniform.

Please note that photos are scanned for high resolution and immediately returned. We do not want to be in possession of or borrow the photo, but only desire a opportunity to scan and return it, if possible. Other options are available if we are contacted first. Banner program guidelines are subject to change in the program's future development.
